The Future Artists Project

As well as using easily recognizable work from the past within the crocheted parodies, I have included a collaboration with four artists of the future, my nieces and godsons, in the Emergence 2024 exhibition. They each drew me a picture for this project, and I then translated them into crocheted tapestries. By having a past and future representation of art I can be the present artist to combine them. By using my family to collaborate within this project I am furthering the domesticity of this practice by replicating my mother, and other female family members, who taught me craft. By including my godsons, I am also challenging the notion that crochet is for women only and instead for everyone who wishes to learn, participate, and enjoy.
